Heads Up Shootout at the Pinball Co-op

When: Sunday, August 16, 2015 1:30pm until 8pm

Where: The Pinball Co-op, 1881 Williston Rd, South Burlington, VT 05403

Cost: $15 ($10 into the prize pool and $5 to the Pinball Co-op) / $10 for Pinball Co-op Members

Main Event:

Head-to-head match play on few enough machines that there's at least a player or two waiting at all times. The number of machines and specific machines will be selected based on the number of players, with a preference given to machines with quick ball times.

At the end of each game, the winner gets one point. The loser stays at the game unless they've lost twice in a row, in which case the winner stays. The player staying on the game plays in the same position (1up/2up) as they were already. The first player from the queue comes and plays that player; the player that left the game goes to the back of the line and records the win and loss on a master list.

Two 2-hour sessions with food break in between. Second session continues where first one left off, for fairness. At the end of the time period, no more games may start. The player with the most points wins, and ties are broken by fewest losses.

Schedule:

1:30 pm, warmups.

2:30 pm to 4:30 pm, Session 1.

4:30 pm to 6 pm, dinner break.

6 pm to 8 pm, Session 2.

Vermont IFPA State Championship for 2015

When: Saturday, February 13, 2016 at 10am

Where: The Pinball Co-op, 1881 Williston Rd, South Burlington, VT 05403

Cost: $30 (Most of the $20 registration fee will be paid out to the top 3 finishers. The $10 hosting fee will be used for trophies for positions 2 through 4, snacks, and to partly offset the cost of running this event)

Bracket: http://challonge.com/VT_SCS_2015_16

Tournament Format:

  • The tournament is open to the Top 16 qualifiers who accepted the invitation to play in the tournament.
  • Players in round 1 and players who advance to subsequent rounds will play a best of 7 head to head match.
  • One thing to keep in mind for this year's tournament is that all finishing positions will be played out. This means, for example, that the 8 people eliminated in round 1 will be re-seeded into essentially an 8-person heads-up best 2-games-out-of-3 tournament that will itself have 3 rounds. So, don't disappear after you are eliminated from the winner's bracket! (Yes, the 4 people eliminated in round 1 will be re-seeded into a 4-person heads-up best 2-of-3 tournament that will itself have 2 rounds; and of course the losing semifinalists will face each other to determine 3rd and 4th place).
  • Doors open at 9am for warmups; tournament starts at 10am.
